June 21, 2019 JAFPE meets at “Sona Area Tokyo” to learn how to survive the next earthquake.

“Sonaeru,” a Japanese verb, is “to prepare for” something unexpected. Thus, “Sona Area” Tokyo, a national disaster response center in a bay-area park in Tokyo. The area houses a facility where visitors like us, JAFPE members, or anybody including kids and seniors can be prepared for the up-coming big earthquake to hit Tokyo in near future. How? On the first floor of Sona Area, a realistic disaster simulation tour provides the aftermath of a large earthquake to help visitors study what to do within three days under such circumstances. What else? The learning zone on the second floor is full of information in panels, exhibits, lecture rooms, and video halls.
